How I Work
Depending on your needs, I can serve you as a coach, consultant, or do the hands-on work for you. I price work by project or on retainer, and I offer the flexibility to mix and match, change over time, or cancel with no hassle. The point is maximum flexibility and transparency — so I can meet you where you are and help you accomplish your goals.
In a coaching engagement, I serve as your advisor and sounding board. We talk through your situation, I share my perspective on approach and strategy, and you execute. This might look like working through how to position your business for a specific type of buyer, figuring out which financial gaps to address before going to market, or pressure-testing a term sheet before you respond. This works well for owners who are capable of running their own process but want an experienced voice in their corner — someone who's been through these transactions and can help avoid the mistakes that are hard to see from the inside.
In a consulting engagement, I take on specific analytical or strategic tasks and deliver tangible outputs. This might be a detailed assessment of whether your business is ready to sell, a positioning document that frames your business for potential buyers, a target list of buyer candidates, or a marketing teaser to generate interest. You get a finished work product, not just advice about how to create one.
This is the most intensive engagement type. Rather than advising or delivering documents, I'm actively running any or all aspects of the transaction on your behalf. That might mean conducting outreach to potential buyers, coordinating the diligence process, managing the flow of information and requests between parties, or keeping the deal on track when complications arise.
A fixed monthly fee for an agreed scope of ongoing support. This works well when you want consistent access — a steady presence through a process that unfolds over weeks or months. Retainers provide predictability on both sides: you know what you're paying, and I can plan my time accordingly.
A fixed fee for a defined deliverable or scope of work. This works well when you know exactly what you need and we can create a bounded engagement with a clear finish line. You get cost certainty; I take on the scope risk.
Many engagements combine elements of more than one type, and clients shift their approach as their needs evolve. You might start with coaching to assess your readiness, move into a project-based consulting engagement to produce your marketing materials, and bring me in on retainer for hands-on support once you're in active deal discussions. Or you might only ever need one piece.
The point is that you're not locked in. If your needs change, we adjust. If something isn't working, you can cancel at any time, for any reason.
